Tips for the Procrastinating Gift Wrapper: Bitty Bag Gift Card Holders
I have a confession. I’m not the most timely when it comes to making handmade holiday gifts. No matter how early I vow to start my crafting, you’ll find me locked in my room on the eve of any given holiday, juggling a glue gun in one hand, paper cutter in another, painting chipboard and stringing bunting until the sun comes up. In between cooking, decorating, and last-minute place card additions, time can fly by faster than the Polar Express.
Sound familiar? We’re here to save you the stress and minimize the craft room mess. Pair a gift card with a cute handmade package with this easy and adorable tutorial!

I keep a supply on hand of gift bags in all sizes and styles. That habit has saved me on more occasions than I can count!
Hi,
I’m so glad you’re blogging ‘Somerset’! I LOVE the magazines, and feel I can never get filled up–always wanting more! I’ve got this now up on my Favorites Bar, so I can click in whenever. (I sound like a stalker! eek)
Anyway, love the little gift card holder. I’m really bad this year: working two jobs leaves me in the mood to spend time w/ family and friends, but no extra time to make the gifts. Maybe I should make gift envelopes for IOU’s?
haha!
Hi Carole! So glad we made it into your “Favorites”–and I approve of the IOU idea whole-heartedly. You can even write a sweet note on a tag, and slip that in instead :)
I make up a supply of cute gift tags, and have assorted gift bags available. Done in less than 5 minutes!
Very cute tags! I, too, have been found wrapping presents in a frenzy. My only “trick” is always keeping the tape and scissors to my right; otherwise, I lose them both. They could very well end up inside of the last gift I wrapped if I am not paying attention. ;)
Nice tip, Jessica! I agree–I seem to always misplace my tape dispenser too!
Very creative gift card idea!
Yesterday, I grabbed a fork and some metallic paint to make painted wrapping paper: http://bit.ly/tSwmxz
Quick and easy, plus adds a personal touch!
My wrapping trick is to gather supplies all year for wrapping & adoring. When the time comes, I have lots of fun options. I already found something I want to try for Christmas 2012! I’m going to hand-paint clothes pins with the names of gift recipients. Clip it on! They can either keep it, or I will take it back to re-use. I can’t wait to start that project!
Great idea, Marti–it’s never too early to start your holiday wrapping collection. And I’m sure you’ll thank yourself later!
I’m trying to reduce my waste and I’m wrapping a lot in old maps. Also using some of my prettier papers to wrap some boxes for perpetual gift giving & all I need to do is grab a piece of ribbon and a tag [ hopefully made up ahead of time]- my friends know I’ll take it all home and reuse it.
Howdy, i read your blog occasionally and i own a similar one and i was just wondering if you get a lot of spam remarks? If so how do you stop it, any plugin or anything you can advise? I get so much lately it’s driving me crazy so any help is very much appreciated.
Hi there,
We use a wordpress plug-in service called: akismet. It helps us filter blog comments and prevent spam by allowing us to review anything that akismet deems “fishy” before it gets posted live on our blog. I hope this helps!
Best,
Jordan
