Teacup Twine Organization Idea
We already know that a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down, but how do porcelain cups “stack up”? In this charming teacup craft project, Shoppe Manager Vanessa Spencer uses her creativity to transform thrifted chinaware into an organizational unit for her favorite art supplies.
How did this organizational idea come about?
“It’s funny, really. I bought the cups with the intent to use them for tea. I quickly realized they were not microwave safe, which prompted me to think of other ways to use them.”
How do you keep the plates and cups in place?
“It’s very simple to do. I used Gorilla Glue to adhere them together, but any strong adhesive will work. Just apply (according to the label’s directions) and let dry.”
What art materials do you suggest to organize using the stacked cups?
“Based on the size of the cup and saucer, it’s best to organize small items. I chose to display different colors of twine on spools, patterned washi tapes, and little mini jars of sparkles.”
Thank you Vanessa for sharing this easy (and adorable!) DIY. Looking for more artful storage solutions? Click here to find more free organizational projects at The Studio.

I’m going down to Savers to find some cups and saucers! This is perfectly genius! Mahalo for sharing.
Nice! Right up my alley; now to dig out those old dishes….currently I use a Wire 3-Tier Glass Drying Rack from Cost Plus World Market & that baby is P-A-C-K-E-D!
This would be ideal for a centerpiece at a bridal shower. But if serious storage in the objective, buying larger plates would be a better idea. The little tiny saucers are cute and all but don’t hold much.
Candy: Great idea! Thanks for mentioning the bridal showers. Im an antiques dealer and love to assist brides with their showers and reception ideas. This will be wonderful for me to replicate in my booth!
I just bought some adorable vintage cups and this idea is fabulous for them. I was going to use them for storage too. Thanks for the tips.
