“I really enjoy being able to see my progress in how the art I create evolves over time: you can see that in these journals. When I first began, you could see my efforts to fill up the pages with a lot of ephemera while learning about balance, composition, and color. In addition, I was still learning about creating backgrounds and foregrounds using different materials and techniques. Part of what I can see changing throughout my journals is how I have discovered that what is important to me isn’t necessarily what is popular at the moment. The changes in both my colors and subject matter over time reflect that.”
