9 Projects for Summer Craftin’ With Kids!
School’s out for the summer and your grandkids, children, nieces, nephews, and even great-grandchildren are looking for something fun to do! Encourage their creativity with these 9 projects from The Studio that are fun for both children and adults. Each has a recommended age group and some ideas for how you can get in on the artsy fun!
1. Color Burst and Tim Holtz Resist Paper Card Project
Recommended Age: 7 and up
Ken Oliver’s Color Burst powdered watercolor can be messy, but it is well worth it. Just dust the page with some powder and spritz with water to see the vivid colors magically appear right before your eyes. You may need to assist with puffing the dry watercolor pigment onto the page, but the kids will have a blast with the spray bottle!

2. Inspirational Tags Using Distress Crayons
Recommended Age: 4 and up
Everyone from toddlers to adults will have fun coloring these shipping tags with Tim Holtz’s Distress Crayons. Let the kids experiment with a stack of baby wipes and allow them to blend the colors in new and interesting ways, then finish the design with a Dina Wakley stamp that pulls the whole tag together.

3. Lemongrass and Ginger Soap Recipe
Recommended Age: 12 and up
This project will need adult supervision, but the kids will love sprinkling the herbs into soap molds, and helping chop the soap into cubes for heating. This simple melt and pour recipe should be poured by an adult.

4. Coloring Beyond the Page
Recommended Age: 4 and up
Wrap your presents for summer birthday parties or housewarming gifts with this custom paper. Just stamp the designs onto the page and let the kiddos go nuts with their pencils, markers, and crayons. For older children, you can even try watercolor pencils and a water brush pen.

Recommended Age: 6 and up

Recommended Age: 6 and up
