Quick and Crafty Color Burst Cards + 3L Scrapbook Adhesives Giveaway
Ken Oliver’s Color Burst Watercolors are a great way to add vibrant color to any project. While crafting with them recently, I picked up the wrong spray bottle. Instead of giving the page a spritz of water, I accidentally sprayed the page with rubbing alcohol! After a brief moment of panic, I realized that it created a lovely speckled page of color because the rubbing alcohol evaporates without spreading the color very far. And voila— I developed a new technique for powdered watercolor that would never have been discovered if I labeled my bottles correctly!
Supplies:
-
- Ken Oliver’s Color Bursts — Brights
- Tim Holtz Metal Word Bands
- 3L Adhesives E-Z Runner Grand®
- Dylusions Ink Spray — Crushed Grape
- Grungy Silhouette Cling Mount Stamp by Dina Wakley
- Watercolor paper
- Black card
- Brads
- White seam binding ribbon
Quick and Crafty Color Burst Cards Instructions:
Give a quick puff of Ken Oliver’s Color Bursts to your watercolor page. Note: You will have a hard time seeing the color on the page, but it will show up vibrantly when spritzed, so don’t worry and don’t overdo it with the powder!
For this project, I went with cool tones and used Indigo, Ultramarine Blue, Merlot, and Violet to achieve the pattern seen.
Spray entire page with a very light coat of rubbing alcohol. The colors should pop out nicely. If there are any holes you would like to fill, just puff a little more Color Bursts onto the page.
Stamp Grungy Silhouette with black ink onto the watercolor page.
Trim watercolor paper to fit your card. Adhere with 3L® Adhesives E-Z Runner Grand®.
Trim a thin strip of watercolor paper for the bottom of your card. Attach Tim Holtz Metal Word Band with brads and adhere to the bottom of the card.
Crumple white seam binding ribbon, spray with Dylusions Ink Spray in Crushed Grape and allow to dry completely. If spray ink is too dark or opaque, rinse some of the ink out with water. Note: Wear gloves or you will have very purple hands!
Allow ribbon to dry completely, then tie to the left-hand side of card.

Pinned and heading over to FB as well!
What a cool project and I just love the palette!
Love using 1/4″ double-sided tape when making cards, scrapbooking or making my own albums. Lay a strip of tape down. Then press beedz, gold leaf, foils or glitter on it. It’s a wonderful glitzy embellishment that can frame cards, special places in scrapbooks or just to jazz things up.
really enjoyed article and can’t wait to try out ideas. Thanks

Between my mixed media pieces and my scrapbooking I am mired in adhesives. Attaching beautiful embellishments to both, lots of washi tape and glitter–what ever found art I can add. Loved the article, need to get down and dirty and try to make it. Great ideas.
I use the double sided tape for everything. Makes for a great bond and better looking projects. I do lots of mixed media, scrapbooking and card making which needs a variety of adhesives. Thank you for the opportunity to win such a great collection.
Love this inspiring technique!
I am a fearless embellisher. If you stand still long enough you’ll find something attached to you.
My favorite way is to use Washi tape. I have maybe 150 of them in many, many styles and colors, so they go with every project.
I use adhesives mostly to attach something (e.g. paper to paper, fabric flowers to paper), but also like to use it to attach glitter.

Being a avid crafter/ artist full time, this is a great giveaway. I make greeting cards and use some of my own fabric designs as well. Always looking to try new supplies for different effects. I have yet to use washi tape but need to do that soon!

So much fun, can’t wait to get started. I will paint the dots & use them to dress up my journal page.
I use tape runners and adhesive dots in papercrafting, and adhesive sheets for some bookbinding projects. They stick well and are very easy to use.
You can NEVER have enough adhesives!
I love using glue dots, dimensionals, foam, Washi, etc.
I am a full time paper craftter for over 10 years now.

Enjoyed reading the article about the New alcohol technique. Will have to try this.

My favorite way of using tapes and adhesives is to pop up layers of cardstock and the latest with glitter on the foam squares.
Great giveaway, thank you! https://www.pinterest.com/pin/261701428327525691/
I use black tape for framing on a collage surface and double-sided tape is sooo useful in many bookbinding applications.
Wow, what a great assortment of adhesives–a necessity if I want to make more quick cards–I hate messing with those teeny two sided tape dispensers that don’t always work, so I ♥ the E-Z Runner Grand! Thanks for the chance to win it.

I like tearing strips of washi tape in half and using them to adhere photos in my journals.
I like using adhesives like double sided tape for all my crafting projects. Anything that doesn’t move is fair game!

I use tape to create a border at the edge of the watercolor I am working on. Crisp clean edges.
I pinned the top picture to my Inspiration album. Not only would I like to try the Ken Oliver Colour Bursts, but I got a great stamp making idea from that post too.
Oops….forgot to paste in the link to the Pinterest post. http://otherrambles.blogspot.ca/
I’m so sorry. Apparently this isn’t my night! Let me try that all again fresh. I pinned the top picture to my Inspiration album. Not only would I like to try the Ken Oliver Colour Bursts, but I got a great stamp making idea from that post too. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/221872719123189340/
I use 3D dots, your adhesive dots, double sided-tape and all types of tape runners – https://www.pinterest.com/daliablevins/stampington-and-company/. It’s such a joy to have products that work so well.
I like to sprinkle embossing powder on an adhesive as it keeps the powder from being blown away by the heat gun.
I pinned the image. Love the technique!

Love tape runner adhesives. No wrinkling or rippling.
I particularly like to use double sided tape for some projects. But I do use various adhesives in my work and am always game to try new products!
ESPECIALLY in card making, the right adhesive is #1. It can make the difference between a professional creation and one that really misses what you might want to express! \
Bless you for this opportunity!

I use tape runner permanent adhesives all the time, almost every project, but especially card making. I have friends that use glue sticks, and there results are never as good. PS pick me, pick me!!!
I love this article because the colors are soft yet bright. I use lots of adhesives when creating my mix media projects. I have a variety of them due to the different weights of the papers I use and objects that are “glued” together. I am always eager to learn more about the adhesives so I can better attach my goodies together.
I would love to win that tape runner! Looks like could last for a WHILE before giving up the ghost. Great products!!
I posted to Facebook and Pinterest. I am new at paper and mixed media art and am really experimenting now.

I haven’t used many adhesives but I would like to start doing some mixed media art and I think they would be useful for that.
Recently framed up a “depth of field” piece of a forest out of cut paper and used adhesive dots to gain dimension…looked fabulous!
My favorite way to use tapes and adhesives in my artwork is using double-sided tape for my cards.
I love your alcohol spray “accident” thanks for sharing. I love using wide and thin strips or dots of adhesive not only to attach my card pieces but to add interest by using various widths to add either glitter or flock or anything else I can think of to the top of my card. I have even tried a tartan effect by Criss crossing them. So cool.
Love this idea. Can’t wait to try it!

My favorite way to use it is to anchor papers with tape runners.
I use double sided tapes for ribbons. Much better than wet glue!
Shared on FB. Time to play!
Where would we be without all the wonderful adhesives we use in our art?!?
Adhesive sheets are great for adhering intricate cutouts, and the dots STICK on so many dimensional objects very well.
I love my tape runner for cards, but I use it in mixed-media projects too. I really want some color bursts.
I use my tape runner in card making and in mixed media projects. I really need to get those color burst. Looks like a fun project!
I can not make cards without my adhesives. Nor can I create my muted media without a tape runner, and or dots. I have got to try this technique with my Color Burst. Thanks for the chance to win these awesome adhesives.
