Make a Mini House Art Gallery with Guest Artist Danita
Looking for an easy way to display your ATC cards or create a display of your artwork? Try this idea from Guest Artist Danita and create mini houses for each of your pieces. Line up the little houses on your mantle, side table, or shelf for an instant gallery that shows off your artwork to perfection.
Supplies:
- PaperWhimsy Amazing Alterables – Winged Houses
- French Flea Market Serendipity Scrap Paper Pack”
- Acrylic Paint
Mini House Gallery Instructions:
Paint the back of each Amazing Alterables house with red acrylic paint or color of choice.
Cover frame of each house with a sheet of book text. The book text acts as a unifying feature for the houses. Because they are a neutral color, they set the stage for the artwork while creating a cohesive look between the different houses.
Assemble with ATC card or painting.
Tips:
- Want to create a mini gallery out of large paintings? Try scanning or photographing your paintings and shrinking them on your computer.
- To create cohesion between the different paintings, use the same paint colors or motif for each painting in the series.
- Make your houses a bit grungier by running sandpaper along the edges of the book text frames and houses.

I just love this idea for atc sized cards. When I try a new technique, I like to use atc cards. But, other than letters, I couldnt figure out how to showcase my favs. This gives me a fantastic option. Thank you…beautiful job!!!
What is an ATC card? Just wondering. I have never heard that.
Hi Donna,
An ATC card stands for Artist Trading Card. Typically they are 3×5 or smaller and can be traded or swapped with other artists as an example of their work. They are also small enough to incorporate into assemblage art pieces, or these stand-up houses!
where do you buy mini houses
Hi Nan,
These houses are available here: https://stampington.com/paperwhimsy-amazing-alterables-winged-house-trio.
