A Pinterest Party for National Craft Month!

Stampington is celebrating National Craft Month by throwing a party–a Pinterest Pinning Party! For the month of March, we invite you to pin your crafty projects onto our board titled National Craft Month!

Pinterest is a treasure trove of DIY projects, but it’s so easy to get stuck in a cycle of only pinning and not creating. Be sure to absorb as much inspiration as possible, then channel those ideas into something that you create yourself. Pin your unique handmade projects to our collaborative National Craft Month board and watch the creativity spread. Request access to the pinboard by emailing the link to your own Pinterest account to blog@stampington.com and prepare to pin!

We will be providing daily Pinning Prompts via Twitter (follow us @Stampington) to guide you through the next 31 days of crafting. We hope that by providing our readers with a community where they can share their handmade artwork, they will be able to connect with others who share similar crafting interests and be exposed to new ones as well!

Hello, Pinners! To keep the pinning process fair, we are kindly requesting Pinners to limit pins to ONE pin per day. Please use our daily Pinning Prompts over on Twitter (you don’t need an account to play along!) as your guide, and choose your favorite project to pin for that day. We want to give everyone an equal chance to pin and be pinned!

Notice your inbox getting pretty full? To limit the number of Pinterest emails you receive, please go to Settings > Email Settings > Group Pins (OFF). Whew, that’s better!

As always, feel free to send along an email if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.

Do we have to use Twitter to participate? I would love to but don’t use Twitter.

    • Elysa says:

Hi Ardith! Even if you don’t have a Twitter account, you will still be able to see the Pinning Prompt when you click on the Twitter link from the blog post. If you would like to create a Pinterest account, you can login using Facebook, Twitter, or create a new username.

  2. Rebecca Everett says:

This sound so intriguing. I have had posting my art on to pinterest on my to-do list for about a month now. Thanks for the extra push!! Oh yeah has a winner for the Cruise in Chartreuse contest been chosen yet? I had a blast collecting pins for that. Thanks for constant inspiration.

    • Elysa says:

Hi Rebecca! Yes, as the contest just closed a few days ago, we will be reviewing the Cruise in Chartreuse pins soon! So glad you had fun pinning :) We will definitely let everyone know when we decide on a winner.

  3. Maria Matter says:

can’t wait to ‘pin’ along and see what everyone else is creating too!

just emailed for access to the board! this is a great idea!

  4. Tara says:

Oh, it sounds like so much fun, to bad it’s on pinterest. I deleted all my boards till their terms of use and copyright terms change for the better. :(

  5. Ali Manning says:

Sounds like a lot of fun!!

  6. Sharon Gullikson says:

I have no idea what I’m doing on Pinterest. I guess I signed up, but don’t know what to do. Then I went to your twitter thing (I don’t know the first thing about twitter, and don’t want to do it or learn about it), and was lost. The world is passing me byyyyyyyy. I guess I won’t be doing this contest stuff. It’s too much trouble to learn everything. I like contests that are easy for everyone to be involved in.

    • Elysa says:

Hi Sharon! Pinterest has a handy Pinning 101 guide for first-time Pinners: http://pinterest.com/about/help Give it a once-over and hopefully it answers some of your questions! Pinterest can be a bit overwhelming when you first start, but I’m sure you’ll be a pro Pinner in no time :)

  7. Sharon says:

I pinned your photo so as to pass the info on to others on Pinterest. What a great idea!

  8. Having fun at your Pinterest Party. I didn’t know you could make groups on Pinterest where you can allow others to pin too. Too neat! I guess you learn something new everyday. :)

  9. What a fun idea! I have had a great time playing on Pintrest and because my both my daughters also pin, I can find gifts for them through it that they already love.
Someone called it fantasy football for women, but there are a few men out there that are pinning away, too!

  10. Patty says:

I tried to get a pininterest account but don’t do facebook or twitter. Emailed the “contact us” address” but got no response. So if i can get an account without subscribing to either of these social media sites, count me in and tell me how to do it.

    • Elysa says:

Hi Patty! I just emailed you an invite, you should be able to create an account now :)

  11. Donna says:

Would I used the same sign-in on this blog as I do on Stampington & Company? What is the invite for? Thanks. Donna

    • Elysa says:

Hi Donna! The invite is to pin your own handmade creations onto Stampington’s National Craft Month pinboard. If you would like to create a Pinterest account, please email blog@stampington.com and I’ll send you an invite :)

  12. Donna says:

I should say that I am already receiving the Creative Impulse newsletter, if that makes a difference :)

  13. Atulane says:

Sounds exciting. Thanks for the opportunity to share creativity.

  14. Patty says:

I got the invite but only saw the ability to create an account through FB and TW. Any suggestions?

    • Elysa says:

Hi Patty! Yes, you can create a different username. When that login box pops up, see if you can expand or enlarge it. The option to create a new username should appear below the Facebook and Twitter options. Let me know if that works :)

    • Elysa says:

Hi Patty. I just tested out the invite system, and you’re right, Pinterest is starting to limit its users to only those who have an account with either Facebook or Twitter. It seems that Pinterest is encouraging people to sign up this way to better connect them with other users in their social network. I’m so sorry about this inconvenient snag! If you do still want to participate, I recommend setting up a Twitter account.

  15. Hi, I received your invite (I think?) and I can’t for the life of me figure out how to pin to your board!

  16. yes I did I found it in my email! :)

  17. Moon says:

Is there some limit on the amount of pins one person can put on in one day?!?

I ask because there is a pinner on there that has literally pinned 40 pins in a row of her mixed media, at the time I write this post. The Stampington National Craft board looks like it is all this crafter, and no one else. One has to scroll a good amount to even get to anyone
    else’s work.

I looks tacky and is unfair.

Thanks for letting me voice my concern

    • Elysa says:

Hi Moon! Thanks for your concern. We’ve noticed that as well, and want to keep the Pinterest Party fair for all of our pinners. The guidelines will be modified tomorrow via an addendum to this blog post.

  18. Cali says:

Surprised people are still pinning since the terms of use for Pinterest says by pinning you declare you own the content pinned and give Pinterest full rights from that point forward to use the content in anyway they see fit including selling it.

  19. I truly love your site.. Very nice colors & theme. Did you create this amazing site yourself? Please reply back as I’m looking to create my own site and want to learn where you got this from or exactly what the theme is called. Cheers!
