Project Ideas from The Coloring Studio + A Coupon
It’s time to break out the box of crayons and embrace some good old-fashioned nostalgia. Coloring books are not only back in fashion again, but they are even topping the bestseller lists on Amazon and beyond. To celebrate our favorite pastime, we’ve gathered some projects together using The Coloring Studio’s pages. Turn your artwork into wrapping paper, art journal pages, cards, and more — because the real fun starts when it’s all colored in.
The Coloring Studio Meets Mixed-Media by Bekah Ellington
This art journal page layers the coloring page on spray inks, texture paste, and bits of ephemera to create a beautiful art journal spread that is inspired by the colors and motifs of the Southwest.

Coloring Beyond the Page
Expand your hobby beyond the coloring book and create your own designs with stamps. The possibilities are endless when you can create a colorable design on anything. Decorate notebooks, make wrapping paper, or add pizzazz to file folders with a stamped design that you can color any way you want.

The Coloring Studio Cards
Give your loved ones a card that they’ll treasure. Just color your favorite design, cut it out, and add some washi tape and paper. Fill the inside with your favorite sentiment, or create a custom Zendoodle just for them.

Dream Catcher Project by Sarah Donawerth
Coloring pages are the perfect starting place for mixed-media projects. This dream catcher uses feathers from a coloring page as the finishing touch. Incorporating mixed-media elements can also add a sophisticated style to your coloring pages. These feathers use glitter glue and texture paste to make them stand out.

Unique Coloring Tools
We all love our trusty crayons and colored pencils, but sometimes we need to branch out to something new. Here are recommendations to try when you’re ready to experiment in your coloring book:
1. Watercolor pencils
This is a great place to start when you are looking to experiment with your coloring tools. Just color in your design as before, and use a water brush to blend your colors for a smooth, watercolor finish that is sure to impress.
2. Brush Pens
When you’re looking for something a little more exciting than markers, try a brush pen. You’ll get a smooth line of beautiful ink and it is by far a more exciting experience (in my humble opinion) than using ordinary markers.
3. Gelatos
We can’t say enough good things about gelatos. You can blend them with a makeup sponge for a pastel look, or use a water brush to create a watercolor effect. You can also use a knife to flake pieces of gelatos onto the page and spritz with water for a fun, confetti look. These are also great tools for large areas and can be used with so many different techniques that you’ll never get bored.
4. Texture Paste
Transform your coloring pages with a little texture paste and create a three-dimensional work of art. Texture paste can be used with stencils to add interest to the background, or you can add touches with a palette knife for extra detail. Just imagine a colored page of a cupcake with what looks like real frosting!
5. Ken Oliver’s Color Bursts
These ultra-fine watercolor powders can be sprinkled onto the coloring page, then spritzed with water for interesting effects. Fill the page with bright colors and create effortless artwork.
