Sometimes I make small samples before embarking on a major piece of art. My favorite way to collect such samples together is to make them into a cloth book. This is such an effective way to present tactile little samples of cloth and stitch, because it keeps the work together in a space that is small yet very accessible. It also functions as your very own reference book when you compose and assemble future projects. These days I prefer to stitch by hand, but this little book combines hand and machine stitching, as well as some unlikely and unusual materials.”
