This summer, I am a little obsessed with fruit. It is the perfect motif for the season and it is full of bright, beautiful colors. For these fruit slice cards, I created my own simple stamp to create some orange, lime, and watermelon slices. With a simple stamped sentiment, these cards declare that “life is sweet.”

Supplies:

• Speedy Carve Block
• Dylusions Spray Ink — Postbox Red
• Dylusions Spray Ink — Cut Grass
• Dylusions Spray Ink — Squeezed Orange
• Dylusions Spray Ink — Fresh Lime
• Cavallini & Co. Mini Rubber Stamp Set – Sweet Treats
• Cavallini & Co. Rubber Stamp Set – Alphabet

 

Instructions:

For Watermelon:

Beginning with your Speedy Carve Block, trace two circles onto it with about 1 inch in between the two circles. Circles can cover just the corner if you’d like to save the rest of the block for another project. I traced the inside and the outside edges of a roll of masking tape.

Cut these pieces out with a pair of scissors.

Spray smaller section with Postbox Red spray ink. Spread ink around with your finger, then press onto the page. Warning: This will stain your finger, so use gloves if you don’t want to be caught red-handed!

Tip: Stamping with spray ink isn’t going to be perfect, but it gives a lovely watercolor effect when the cards are finished.

Spray the outside strip of rubber with Cut Grass spray ink, spread with finger, and stamp on the outside of your red circle.

Splatter a few random dots across the rest of the card and let dry. Draw in seeds with a black pen. Stamp “Life is” with letter stamps and “sweet” with the Sweet Treats stamp set.

For Orange and Lime:

Take the smaller circle piece of rubber and cut it in thirds to create slices.

With Squeezed Orange or Fresh Lime, stamp both slices and the larger circle. Add a few random splatters, then stamp your sentiment.

If you’d like a coordinating envelope, then just leave the sentiment off your card and address to the lucky recipient.
