As an artist, you know that wrapping a gift with delicate ribbon can really tie together a look – but an even more essential bond, the eternal tie we share with our mothers, is something that’s really worth talking about – which is why we’ve created this special May Mother’s Day Challenge!

My Mommy is the best… Because I said so. But more importantly because she’s always been there for me. And has always told me the truth, whether I wanted to hear it or not. Her favorite saying is, “Ain’t nobody gonna tell you the truth like your Mama!” And it’s true. I am truly blessed to have my Mom in my life. I cherish the times I get to spend with her, and the conversations we have. Though I may have best friends in life, my Mommy will always be the best friend of them all. :)

  2. Ellen says:

My birthday is the week and sometimes it falls on Mother’s Day. One year on my birthday my mom said we were going to do something special before church-just the two of us. We went out to breakfast, at our favorite restaurant. I was nine and felt so grown up! We toasted each other with Orange juice and shared a lot of memories. She told me she didn’t think she was going to be a mother and than she had me. She said I was the best gift, she had ever received! We have a special bond and seem to know when the other needs to talk. My lifestyle as a military spouse has made our relationship unique. We have shared a lot via phone, photos, mail and computers. My mom is one of those selfless people who gives her time, and all that she can. I think she has a green heart, because her love is always growing for all the people in her life! Thanks Mom for being the best Mom, I could have or want! xo

      Ellen,
Always a pleasure to read your thoughts and stories. I’m so happy you have such special memories to hold on to. Your mom sounds like an amazing woman, just like you!

      Warm regards,
      Bethany

I LOOOOOOVE being a mother! It was ALWAYS my dream! AND now I have two children who are going into college in the fall–one will be a senior & one a freshman! WHAT will I do when they are gone off??? OF COURSE, make them cards to receive each week to let them know they’re loved & missed! (I’ve done that for our oldest.) Lately, I’ve been looking over their baby pictures & you REALLY DON’T REALIZE just how FAST TIME FLIES!!!!! Remembering back as they were little, the times of making surprises for them—& seeing the joy on their faces, was a SPECIAL TIME! One little gift I made for them both, were little bunnies made of socks! Small enough for their little hands & they could chew on them without danger! They would carry them EVERYWHERE! I gave them to them when they were born! They STILL have them tucked away today! What a BLESSING OUR LITTLE ONES ARE! HOW VERY PRECIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!! To be a Mom is a GREAT GIFT!!!!!!! THANKS LORD!!! (I had infertility issues.)

    • Bethany says:

How amazing you were given the gift of children after struggling with infertility! What a blessing. Thanks so much for sharing your sweet story with us Becky. <3

  4. Ellen says:

I so agree! It is seeing our hearts live outside our bodies~ I had trouble having children-autoimmune illnesses. I too feel blessed by my two!
    Beautiful Becky!!

  5. Lila says:

My mom was absolutely the best mom in the world. She had nine children and loved each one of us every day. She died when she was 56 and I was 12 years old; she knew that she would not get well this time so she called me to come to her and she asked me to be good to my little sister and to take care of her. I have honored my mom for the last 56 years by taking care of all my siblings. She taught me how to love, how to take care of people and a home, she taught me how to be creative and most of all she taught me about God. Two of my children died at birth at I know in my heart they are with my Mom and she is caring for them until I can see them again. I have the most amazing daughter who has a lot of the qualities my mom had. I love her so much and I really, really miss my mom and wish I could have coffee with her and a chat.

    • Bethany says:

Your story really touched my heart Lila. Wishing you a happy Mother’s Day full of joy and love. I hope you can spend time with your daughter while holding on to the memories you created with your mother.

      All the best!

  6. Dianna Oliver says:

2 years ago, I suffered from a ruptured colon and almost died. I am still recovering from multiple problems and my mother, who is also my best friend has kept me going from the start. She taught me to be strong and independent from the time I was a little girl and she never quit cheering me on through 5 surgeries in 2 years. Then late last year, she suffered a severed aortic tear and massive stroke and now is struggling with her own recovery. Once again I see her never ending strength and courage and my love for her is boundless. I can only hope that I can continue to show her the strength she showed me and help her through this time as well. God has blessed me and our family with his love and kindness

    • Bethany says:

Thank you so much for sharing your story Dianna. That truly touches my heart that even in the struggles you see the blessings in your life. It’s amazing that both of you women have suffered with such sudden and unpredictable health problems, and you both are able to encourage each other through it.

      Prayers are with you both,

I bet you remember these wonderful women every day!

  10. Kathy Rivera says:

Ever since I was little I wanted to be a wife and mother. I believe God put this in my heart. Well, 3 in 4 yrs in my early twenties was a surprise. More of a surprise was having them all by C Section. The pain was awful and I knew that if I could just go home, I would stop thinking about me and caring for my children would help me heal faster. Well, I got the basics right. I was boundless at keeping a clean home, happy children, who were fed, clean and played together. I feel I missed out on a lot because I was so intent on getting everything perfect, I missed out on a lot. I took my children every where (having no car and living in New York was no picnic either) but we walked, took trains and buses. Three beautiful children,2 boys and a girl. Nothing stopped me. I went to fun places and they played with each other. Once and a while we got silly and danced together or had fun on the beach etc. I do feel, there wasn’t enough quality time. My fondest memory was in the winters, after I walked them home from school, we would sit in our tiny living room and watch “Little House on the Prairie” while we munched on cheese and apples.
If (at 55) I could talk to that mother in her 20’s (me) I would say, talk to your children more, hug them more and let them know how very much they are loved.
I am a grandmother of almost 10 grand children this year. My daughter is pregnant with her 4th and my daughter in law with her third.
I find being a grandmother to be bliss. Not because”you can send them home” as I always here people say. It’s because being older and hopefully wiser, I am more patient. Their entire lives are not my responsibility so that sort of stress is not there. Not to say I don’t pray for them and care for them immensely. I am enamored by these gifts from God. I had an awesome grand mother who always had my favorite foods on hand. Do I spoil them? I don’t think so, I just treat them like royalty (that they are). Each one is uniquely wonderful. Their talents and personalities vast yet, common in some ways. Grandma, gamma, I don’t care what they call me as long as they love me cause I love them so very much.
As a mother I delivered adults that love each other and their children ( I definitely do not take credit for this) I am blessed that they live near by and now, their children (close in age) Love each other. This is the most important characteristic they could have. I love it that they love and care for each other. My heart can burst just thinking about them.
I got my dream. Being a wife and mother and grand mother. This is life at its finest.
