4 Projects to Get into the Summer Spirit

Summer Projects

Summer is the time to hit the beach, throw a summer BBQ, and enjoy life. It can also be a wonderful opportunity to stretch your creative muscles. Without the pressures of getting the kids to school or trying to be home every night by 8 p.m. to watch your favorite TV show, there’s loads of time to work on your new or neglected summer projects.

Get into the summer spirit with these four creative ideas. Let your hair down, throw on some comfy shorts, and begin an artful adventure that doesn’t have to end when summer does.

Sweet Summer Tea Tins

Summer Projects Sweet Tea tins Every summer bucket list should include a sun-brewed sweet tea. These tea tins have a mixed-media edge, are bursting with color, and are perfect for storing your favorite summery flavored teas. Using various colored ink pads, this project has all the character of a batik-dyed fabric or a tie-dyed sundress. Recycle an old coffee container or an oatmeal container to re-create these tins. Place them on your kitchen counter or gift them to friends and family.

  1. Judy Hall says:

I do a little crafting every now and then using different medeiums and have a wonderful time “just playing”. My question: is someone who does wonderful crafts had training classes or do their projects just kind of evolve after practicing and playing?

    • Sarah says:

I think it’s a combination of both. Cynthia Shaffer took a class to learn the beginnings of this project, but it is how she developed the idea that made it extra special.
