Free Project Idea: Queen Persephone PaperWhimsy Tutorial

Queen Persephone PaperWhimsy ProjectAccording to Greek mythology, Persephone was taken by Hades to the Underworld as his bride, making her Queen of the Underworld. She mourned the loss of her world until she was able to return at the beginning of Spring. This story seemed like a fitting tale for the coming Halloween season, so this assemblage doll celebrates this myth and the emotions of mourning. For this project, I also challenged myself to create a monochromatic project using only black and a very dark grey. The end result compliments the Halloween motif well, but also adds a level of sophistication and elegance that can be made any time of year.

Instructions:

Paint entire Amazing Alterables doll with black paint. Let dry.

Queen Persephone PaperWhimsy Project - Embossing

Stamp body with script stamp, sprinkle with embossing powder and set with heat gun. Tip: Overlap the edges of the script stamp to get a messier look that also hides the edges of the stamped images better. You can also sprinkle some additional embossing powder on parts of the design that you would like to hide.

Paint top of crown with Relique medium, sprinkle with Pewter powder, and set with a heat gun. Glue face piece in place.

Assemble the arms and paint the joints to hide the pegs.

I normally don’t like this type of crafting, but I really like this. I will probably modify it to my simpler style, but thanks for the idea.
